This site has been launched to provide information and news for the many Saints fans living as “Exiles” away from St Helens due to job, marriage or choice.
We are honoured to include fans in France, Hampshire, Luton, Belfast, South and North Wales, who travel long distances to watch the mighty Saints.
We are a family orientated group and welcome any Exiled supporters who would like to join us for a beer (or several) and to participate in the activities mentioned on this site.
HISTORY
The group was founded in 2005 when several Warrington resident Saints fans bumped into each other at the Imperial Hotel in Bewsey, prior to the Challenge Cup semi final against Huddersfield at the Halliwell Jones.
Several of these fans (having enjoyed the pre and post match celebrations) decided to establish a Saints supporters group in Warrington, to provide a local focal point where fans could catch up on all the news and rumours and more importantly develop friendships with fellow supporters living locally.
The Imperial was the perfect base for our group - the right size and location and run by the Nevitt family - all staunch Saints fans. The official launch saw around 40 “Warringtonians” turn up to attend a sports forum with Saints stars Mike Bennett and James Roby .
The Imperial group very quickly established a firm base and now has around 120 members - mainly Exiled Saints fans living in the Warrington area. However the idea of Saints fans living away from St Helens has generated further members from all over the UK and even as far as the South of France.
The group has now evolved into the IMPERIAL EXILES - a move away from just being a Warrington based group.
In 2007 Bob Nevitt decided he’d had enough and hung up his bar towel at the Imperial for the last time and, as a consequence, we relocated the group to Crosfields Rugby League Club, to gain the benefit of a sizeable function room where we can hold our events.
Our second flag dominated by a big red vee is usually displayed at Knowsley Road on Match Days and reflects the geographical spread of our membership, with fans’ home towns being embroidered onto the flag.
WHAT WE OFFER
We offer a variety of benefits and events for our members including Coach and tickets for the big games, social and fundraising events and above all friendship and support. |
